Brat Christmas

 

it's james. i am a brat and it's christmas. it's brat christmas. i'll actually take this time to say that if you haven't taken the time to listen to charli xcx's album cover to cover, do yourself a favor and throw it on. consider that an early present from the gay uncle (don't worry, colin already got me the record on vinyl). 

used, used, used. i love second hand, we all do! estate sale and vintage and used is always more soulful, that's just facts 

Used Cookbooks: these cookbooks were all the rage at one point, but aren't at their peak anymore, meaning you can def get them used still! here's a bunch of titles that have interested me 

- alison roman: "dining in", or "nothing fancy"

- carla lalli music: "where cooking begins"

-  claire saffitz: "dessert person" 

- andy baraghani: "the cook you want to be" 

- marcela hazan: "essentials of classic italian cooking" 

- j kenji lopez alt: "the food lab"

- samin nosrat: "salt fat acid heat" 

Used Kitchenware: i know that there's a second hand market for all these lovely things, with beautiful quality, just waiting to be loved for another lifetime

- butter bell: we love color!! ceramic/clay/stoneware. i like the bell/crock design, not the dish design. 

- dutch oven: colorful, large, circular. i dont like the oval ones, and i dont like the small ones. the big boys are where it's at

- kitchen aid mixer: yeah call me crazy, yeah it's not necessary. but hey, i think they're fun and special. and im certain there's second hand ones waiting for me to give them new life.....colorful because we're vibrant  

- mixing bowls: in terms of large mixing bowls, we're still using dinky plastic ones that just don't bring me joy. i love the older style mixing bowls that are large and have weight and last a lifetime

- dish/hand towels: we really love vintage hand towels and dish towels, add so much charm to the kitchen 

Used Lighting: one problem in our apartment are the overhead lights are horrible. estate sale or vintage quality desks lamps are always of use. or wall lighting/sconces as well could be great. floor lamps unfortunately dont work because we dont have much square footage to work with here.
